Plot Post: Slasher Flick
As mentioned, this week, the Manor is being stalked by a horror-movie slasher!
This is something of a continuation of the previous plot in a way - all damage that hasn't been repaired is still there! The power will be coming back online this week thanks to Megamind's efforts; there will be lights and such again on Wednesday! You may rejoice and Megamind can feel free to be as dramatic about it as he wants. Food's still scarce, though there might be some things starting to turn up in the pantry again - mostly nonperishables and canned goods; hunting, fishing, and foraging will still work to supplement that with real food. A number of areas are still burn-gutted from the various fires. The weather will be dreary, with a heavy fog out.
And for the important part: THE KILLER.
The Killer is something of an archetypal slasher-flick villain; silent, implacable, utterly stealthy, and an ever-present threat. His/its appearance might even change from incident to incident ... About the only commonality is that there'll never be a clear view of the face or any identifying features, whether the obscuring is a mask, darkness, or something stranger will vary. It WILL usually manage to be something the character(s) it's targeting would register as ominous, intimidating, threatening, or otherwise Not A Nice Happy Fun Thing. Weapons and such can shift as well, and like any good cheesy slasher, no matter what you do to it, it might seem to go down for a minute ....
But don't walk up and poke the body
Don't turn your back on the body
And don't assume they're dead - even if The Killer is completely obliterated by someone with overkill powers, it'll just reform somewhere else and start hunting again.
It will target mainly people who're alone or badly distracted - if you're familiar with "how to survive a horror movie" rules, those might serve well here! It likes to turn up suddenly right behind people, or be just behind that door they're walking past, and otherwise work from ambush, although it may make itself more visible before it strikes with someone more easily intimidated. Showers aren't immune either!
When it's not attacking, there will be strange footsteps and thumping on walls out of sight, occasional knocks on doors with the hallway empty, creepy phone calls with snatches of voice or silence, a silhouette looming outside windows or blinds, locked door handles rattling, and other stalking and harassment - which it'll do to just about everyone whether it's attacking or not. For the most part, if more than one person goes to confront it, it just ... won't be there by the time they get to its location - dash around a corner and vanish, be gone when they wave their partner over, etc.; it's more of an ambusher than a fighter, and it's aiming to play head games, although it will press an attack if someone fights back.
Now for the important part:
We'd love to say we'll thread out every single attack with people, but past experience on less hectic time periods has been that it's problematic to get NPCs in every thread they should be in, in a reasonable time - so we're allowing a bit of godmodding as long as it's within the above parameters for encounters with the killer; things can be threaded out on request for people that're teaming up to hunt it, and any of the mods can be pinged with questions/permissions if you're not sure about something.
IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A NONLETHAL ENCOUNTER:
This means anything from background harassment without The Killer being actually seen, taking shots at it as it's enacting said harassment, or injuries/maiming that gets escaped -
That's open and clear! Keep in mind that injuries will heal in normal spans of time; those won't end with the plot.
If you want to do something like one of the DBZ cast trying to ki-blast it out of existence, you can ping one of the mods with any questions about how it'll work; of course, it'll be back by the time the dust clears, reformed in another location.
IF YOU WANT TO BE A VICTIM:
People who die this week will have the option of either waking up next Monday at the start of the next plot, or a random roll for how long they'll be out, from one to ten days - which could be shorter, or could be longer! If a character volunteered as a lethal-attack victim has some kind of regeneration or immortality ability, touch bases with the mods - The Killer might have some tricks up its sleeve that could interfere in unexpected ways.
Since things've been slow, if you want to opt in for this but didn't get it on the spoiler post, you CAN tag here by Tuesday and be added to the list! Assume any deaths that are late additions will happen toward the end of the week.
For posts for this: Feel free to post with either the death scene itself, or the aftermath for people to find, or both. As above, you can ping any mod with questions on details or for input on it, via AIM, e-mail, PM, comments here, or whatever other contact methods you have about godmodding The Killer within its parameters; its appearance, weapons, and tactics will adjust depending on its victim, although no face or such features will be visible and it won't completely mimic a specific person, so have fun with that.
Currently, victims that've been volunteered for lethal encounters are:
Jake Marshall (Clear to post whenever you want there as discussed!)
Kaoru
Lotti
Chris Vineyard/Vermouth
Conan Edogawa
Rizzo?
We would like to request that victims tag here with whether they want a roll or just to wake up on Monday!
ALSO: On a less Mod-plot note.... there was an accidentally publicly broadcast attempt at interrogating the Plot Bunny, with rather fuzzy consequences - The events of this thread were broadcast to the network, so anyone with a Blackberry as of that day has the option of having seen that.

1) Kaoru has no way to defend himself and also
2) It's unexpected, so wouldn't of had the time to get help.
Lotti I already had something spoken about, and I planned on it happening in the middle of the week.
As for how long they will be dead for I'm going to say a roll just to see what happens. I'm actually watching slasher film clips as I'm typing as well :|

(Also, wake up on Monday, or random roll w/possible extension to cover hiatus?)

Also, I'd be fine with rolling on how long he's out for.
