Apologies for modfail - starting this week, the spoiler/plot posts should be back on schedule!
After the little jaunt elsewhere, the characters will be waking up back at the Manor...
Only it's not quite right.
The power's spotty and will flicker, there's dust and cobwebs everywhere, hinges are rusted or falling apart entirely; while a lot of character's belongings will be back in their rooms, even those are covered in dust - as if nobody's been in the Manor for years. The plumbing will be unreliable, with water rusty and sputtering, and the fridge is pretty empty; the food stores that're surviving are nonperishables in the pantries and cabinets, and while there's still enough to feed people for most of the week, it somehow doesn't seem quite was well stocked as usual. Floorboards creak and may sink threateningly here and there, the pipes will knock and complain. The Manor's usual trick of healing and self-maintaining is taking a break as well.
The gardens that should be close to blooming are overgrown and weed-choked, with flowers and some of the vegetables having overgrown and gone wild, and the forests are creeping up on the main grounds, with some of the wild animals roaming the "tame" areas just as freely as the woods. Spiders, mice, rats, and other small pests have moved into the house, with the spiders running a pretty good range between tiny little things up to small tarantulas and huntsmen - there's nothing poisonous ... yet.
The weather outside is grey and dreary, with clouds, occasional light drizzles, and fog in the morning; it's a touch chilly out.
This will be week one of a multi-week plot - and yes, we are settling down to a few quieter weeks while there's so many hiatuses and slowatuses, and things like finals looming for some.
